Here we explore the mechanisms and characteristics of LIBs fires, emphasizing the critical design principles for effective fire-extinguishing agents and evaluating various agents, including gaseous, dry powders, water-based, aerosol-based, and composite-based fire-extinguishing agents, elucidating their mechanisms and effectiveness in suppressing LIBs fires.
Different from conventional fire hazards, the LIBs fire shows complicated and comprehensive characteristics, and an effective and suitable fire-extinguishing agent particularly designed for LIBs is highly desirable.
This review paper discussed different flame retardants, plasticizers, and solvents used and developed in the direction to make lithium-ion batteries fire-proof.
This manuscript provides a comprehensive review on the origin and behavior of LIBs fire, and the selection of the typical fire-extinguishing agents for LIBs. Novel fire suppression strategies are also discussed.
